Myrtle (Nehrkorn) McElroy

Myrtle (Nehrkorn) McElroy age 90, of Pinckneyville, passed away at Pinckneyville Community Hospital at 11:05 p.m. on Sunday June 15, 2008.

Myrtle was born on November 22, 1917, in Perry County, a daughter to Chris and Clara (Gass) Nehrkorn. On December 15, 1941 she married Robert Dale McElroy in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1997. Myrtle worked as a seamstress for Forest City Garment Factory for 35 years and was a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Myrtle is survived by two daughters, Phyllis (Ronald) Jenkel, Pinckneyville and Vivian (Bill) McDonnough, Pinckneyville; three brothers, Gene Nehrkorn, Pinckneyville, George Nehrkorn, Pinckneyville, and Bill Nehrkorn, Tamaroa; one sister, Wanda Miller, Pinckneyville; five grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Jenkel, St. Louis, Mo., Derek Jenkel, Pinckneyville, Jodi (Charlie) Martin, Pinckneyville, Clay (fianc, Casey Ritter ) McDonnough, Pinckneyville, and Kari McDonnough, Nashville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Mathew Martin and Andrew and William Jenkel

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Paul Nehrkorn and Bob Nehrkorn; and one sister, Clara Goldman.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at Beaucoup Baptist Church in Pinckneyville, with Reverend Mark Lee officiating. Interment will be at Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville.

Friends may call on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church.

Memorials may be made to Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville.
